South Valley Park to Roxborough water tank and back through Chatfield
March 18 @ 10:00 am - 1:30 pm
This is a nice early season ride since we don’t have a lot of climbing to do and two ‘climbing areas’ can easily be skipped for a more mellow ride. We start out from the S. Valley Park where we have access to restrooms, then we head south to Deer Creek and west a tad to Grizzly. We climb Grizzly and drop back down onto Deer Creek via Cougar. (NOTE: the Grizzly Cougar piece is the first that can be skipped to cut down on the climbing) On DeerCreek we head east to Wadsworth, south on Wadsworth to Waterton, west on Waterton to Campfire where we hang a right and go south on the bike path, not the street. After 0.7 miles on the bike path we get off on Village Circle West and take that south to Rampart Range Rd. We take Rampart south to the Roxborough development. At the entry gate to the development we can turn around OR do a moderate 4.5 mile climb up to the water tank on Roxborough Dr and a steep little piece on Thunder Run before retracing back to the entry gate. Once back on Rampart we go north to Village Circle East where we make a right and take that loop through the nice neighborhood and it brings us back to Rampart. Then we head north and stop at the gas station for a break. We then continue north, then east on Titan, left on Roxborough and end up going through Chatfield. We cross Wadsworth and take the neighborhood bike path off Deer Cr to Kipling, then ride the C-470 bike path north to Ken Caryl and drop into the parking lot from the north. Another option would be to take Deer Cr. west to Valley Rd and then back up Valley to the cars. The published length and vertical are for the longest route. Eliminating Grizzly and the Roxborough water tank cuts off 11.2 miles and 1330 vertical.
