Nonprofit: Evergreen High School Winter Ensemble

(by Darcie Gudger) Evergreen High School’s winter guard and indoor percussion ensembles helped Team Evergreen for the past two years. Students and parents filled Evergreen HS Winter stuffing packetsbags for riders participating in the Triple Bypass. Doing this helped reduce the dues students must pay in order to be in the guard or percussion unit. Student fees pay for uniforms, equipment (props, flags, instruments) as well as competition circuit fees, instructors and travel.

Colorguard3Color Guard is also known as the Sport of the Arts. It combines athletics, dance, and theatre – all while spinning rifle, sabre and flag to a soundtrack. Students train year around and compete with the marching band in the fall and by themselves as an ensemble during the winter months. The Evergreen High School Winter Guard won the silver medal in state championships last year, raising the bar quite high by breaking a 90 with their score. Such a score has not been seen in many, many years. The team is already preparing for their 2015 competitive season.

Both teams are looking for students in grades 8-12 who are interested in music and performing arts.  For more information about supporting the 2015 season, please contact Darcie Gudger at
