Black Sheep Cycling’s mission is to build a competitive team of dedicated junior cyclists who maintain a lifelong love of the sport, and who give back to the community that supported them.”

Ryan Campbell 11-12 National ChampionGreetings from your friends at Black Sheep Junior Cycling, the last note that we sent was from the deep throws of winter, right before Moab Spring Training Camp. We had just finished out Cyclocross where our own Ryan Campbell won the Junior Men’s 11-12 National Championship and were looking forward to a successful 2014.

Tired of the indoor training, the team was ready to get on their mountain bikes and mix things up. We had a brave group of juniors and adults that did the Kokopelli Trail from Loma, CO to Moab Utah with full 4 wheel drive support that also followed the Kokopelli except a couple small sections of single track over a 4 day period from March 22nd through March 25th. We encountered deep sand, technical boulder fields, waist high sections of tumbleweeds, rock shelf ascents/ descents, axle deep mud, and several feet of snow. This group met a larger Black Sheep group at Spring Training camp in Moab on the 25th and the two groups finished spring training together until their return on the 28th. For the Kokopelli; planning, and having Satellite communication messengers were key to safety.

On our return we were ready to move full speed ahead, with weekly Thursday Road practices in Golden, while also supporting the Team Evergreen Mountain and Road rides. The days are getting longer and warmer, beckoning those on the ski slopes to come and enjoy the freedom on 2 wheels that the bike represents. If you are interested in working with juniors as a mentor or have a son or daughter you want to get involved with cycling feel free to reach out to our coaches at or contact us at 720-443-5775. We look forward to having a great season with Team Evergreen!
