Trailblazers
The Team Evergreen Trailblazers is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, volunteer mountain bike organization. Our mission engages trail construction and advocacy opportunities in the "Front Range" of Colorado by inspiring service contribution from volunteers for the benefit of public access by the mountain bike community.
Through the first three years since inception of 2007 the Team Evergreen Trailblazers have:
- Inspired volunteers passion with our mission
- Secured the engagement and documentation of 2,661 volunteer hours to land managers
- Built 5.0 miles of new singletrack in the Buffalo Creek Recreation Area (BCRA)
- Established respected relationships with the S. Platte Ranger District of the United States Forest Service and Jefferson County Open Space land managers
Our organization and planning for 2010 focuses on the USFS approved “Nice Kitty” trail construction project in the BCRA of the Pike National Forest. This trail project has:
- Over a 1,000 feet of elevation change
- Approximately 4.3 miles of varied terrain from recovering burned hillsides with spectacular views to rocky features on steep hillsides and a ponderosa canopy forest
- All to be linked by “Boardwalks” and a bridge over Buffalo Creek.
“Nice Kitty” will also serve to:
- Ease user pressure on Shinglemill and Morrison Creek trails
- Provide an alternate singletrack access for MTB riders climbing to Little Scraggy Trailhead from Buffalo Creek rather than riding the shoulder of Highway 126.
