Horse race in Indian Creek
Message from Mountain Mettle
I received the web address of your club from Shay, a member of the RMBB. I sent him the following email about an endurance riding I will be managing on June 20th, and he has helped me with some additional mt. biking groups. I would appreciate it if you could get the word out to your members about our ride. While I ride many times on these trails along with mountain bikers, it's a bit different situation when we have horses moving at speed. Let me know if you need any additional information. Love your website!

I'm not sure whom I should contact, but I wanted to let members of your club know that on June 20th there will be an endurance ride (horseback) beginning at Sharptail Ridge Trailhead (Douglas County Open Space) and utilizing the Indian Creek trail system and dropping down into Waterton Canyon. We have forest service and Douglas County approvals, but they will not allow us to have exclusive use of the trail system. Bikers and equestrians have used these trails together in a mutually agreeable manner for a number of years, but this is the first time we will share trail while equestrians are racing each other. We would be very appreciative if you could encourage your members to NOT schedule any group rides on that particular day. We should be off the Indian Creek trails by 4 PM. Trails will be marked with signage so riders do not take wrong turns, using pink and orange ribbons on clothes pins. We would be happy to have you help mark trail in the days prior to the ride and we would also be happy to let your members know something about this sport. You can visit our website at http://www.mountainmettle.com. We will put information on the Douglas County website, on bulletin boards at trailheads, and on vehicles at trailhead parking lots. We would like to post info on as many mountain biking websites as possible. We would appreciate your help.
Thanks,
Susan Horrne
