Idaho Springs to Echo Lake, Mt. Goliath Nature Center, and perhaps more?
June 26 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
This is a good preparation ride for the Triple Bypass and the Bob Cook Mt. Evans Hill Climb. We meet at Idaho Springs near the Rec. Center at Exit 240 and head up, up, and up some more. After 1.75 to 2.0 hrs of work (depending on fitness) and 13 miles, we get to Echo Lake Lodge where we can take a break and get some nutrition. Then we head up the Mt Evans road and probably get to the Mt. Goliath Nature Center at about timberline. Then, our ‘gonzo’ riders can keep climbing and perhaps get to Summit Lake depending on weather, energy, and motivation. Turning around at the Nature Center gives you 32.2 miles and a bit over 4,000 vertical feet.
— NOTE! Idaho Springs has established “pay for parking” in nearly all the central downtown area. If you go west of 10th Ave on Colorado Blvd you can find a lot of free parking. There is some on 9th Ave also. Also, you can park in the lot south of I-70 where a lot of rafters park. This might be a bit congested however. Regardless of where you park, do it legally and meet up at the same RTD lot near the rec. center. You can always checkout the parking website and download their app etc. For info go to https://www.parkidahosprings.com
